What Makes a Sudoku "Easy"?

Easy sudoku puzzles start with more numbers already filled in — typically 36 or more out of 81 cells. With fewer empty cells, there are fewer choices to make and less complex logic required.

Easy puzzles can be solved entirely using just one technique: the Naked Single. Every empty cell will eventually have only one possible number once you eliminate what's already used in its row, column, and box.

How to Solve Easy Sudoku

1. 1Look for cells that already have 8 numbers in their row, column, or box — the last missing number must go there.
2. 2Scan one number at a time across the whole grid — find where it already appears, then figure out where it must go next.
3. 3Repeat until solved. Each number you fill in makes the remaining cells easier.
